The Dickens Victorian Village project has been made possible by a vision embraced by all levels of the local community.

The need for volunteer services is constant and ever changing for such an exciting and growing project of this magnitude.

If you are interested in getting involved and helping support this wonderful community effort, please consider one of the many ways you can contribute:

SUPPORT THE COMMITTEE

Dickens Victorian Village committee meetings take place the first Thursday of every month at 6 p.m. in the Guernsey County Administration Building conference room, 637 Wheeling Ave., Cambridge, Ohio.

JOIN OR CHAIR A SUB-COMMITTEE

Sub-committee volunteers are needed to fill a variety of specialized needs. Information is below. If you are interested, please contact the sub-committee chair listed or Jonett Haberfield at 740-432-8789. Thank you!

Finance: Grant-writing experience, contacting corporate sponsors.
Chair: Pam McCauley, 740-439-7601

Publicity: Speak to groups about the Dickens Victorian Village project, organize information distribution at local events such as the Salt Fork Arts & Crafts Festival, Living Word Outdoor Drama, and Paul Bunyan Show.

Costumes: Repair and refresh the 2007 mannequins and dress the 2008 mannequins on "Tuesday night work sessions" as available.

Mannequins/Props: Building skills needed to repair and refresh mannequins and scene components.
Chair: Bob Ley, 740-439-2060

Art: Creation of individual mannequin heads.
Chair: Martha Jamail, 740-439-3733

Ambassador Program: Outgoing individuals who would like to meet and greet motorcoach groups to provide interesting facts about our project and the area. Ambassadors will be provided with costumes and training. A flexible schedule is helpful.

Marketing & Advertising: Need for a creative writer who can write an e-newsletter, using a template, to communicate interesting and up-to-date information and announcements to potential visitors, community members, and interested people who register for the newsletter from our website. Computer and internet experience is required.

Merchandise: Oversee fundraising through unique Dickens-themed merchandise sold in local business, at events, and on this website.

Special Events: Assist with organizing the community events that enhance the Dickens project. Provide assistance with Peddler Weekends, Candle Lighting Ceremony, and communication with participating merchants.

Chocolate Walk: Assist with special fundraising event.

Carriage Rides: 
Chair: volunteer needed.

Kids' Activities: Create and organize various Dickens-appropriate children's activities throughout the season.

Gingerbread House Contest: 
Co-Chairs: Sharon Plymire, 740-439-7767, and Judi Warren, 740-685-0304.

Volunteer Coordinator: Communicate with and organize volunteers for various projects.

Rotary Square: A Victorian village on the Guernsey County Courthouse square where artists and crafters will sell their wares during Peddler Weekends.

DONATE SERVICES

MOVING DAY

The Dickens Victorian Village mannequins will be moved from their creative housing at Edgetech Manufacturing to their seasonal homes on Wheeling Avenue at a date to be announced soon.

Needed are: flat bed trucks; strong manpower; and volunteers to hang pine roping and wreaths on the fencing and attach white plastic snow to platforms. Volunteers should bring along a heavy-duty staple gun.

TUESDAY NIGHT WORK SESSIONS

The 2008-09 season "Tuesday night work sessions" will be announced here soon. Sessions for refreshing the 2007 mannequins take place at Edgetech Manufacturing in East Cambridge. Volunteers are needed and welcome! For more information, contact Cindy Arent, 740-439-4582 or Bob Ley, 740-439-2060.
